Jujutsu Kaisen: Why Gojo’s return is impossible

Though the whole Jujutsu Kaisen fandom may be hanging their breath, Gojo will never return, and here's why.

One of the main causes of Jujutsu Kaisen's enormous popularity is Satoru Gojo. The tall, witty, white-haired character was first presented as the strongest character in the series and quickly gained popularity as a heartthrob. -------------- --------------------

Gojo has become so well-known that he is now universally associated with anime; you can find Gojo in cosplay, posters, toys, and more. That's precisely the reason why Gojo's death in the manga came as such a shock.

But no one is prepared to part from Gojo. Unquestionably one of the best-written characters in the series, the character is full of promise. That's the reason, despite the impossibility, everyone is excitedly awaiting Gojo's return.

Gojo shockingly died in Jujutsu Kaisen

The minute Gojo was born into this realm, the balance of the planet was tipped, making him the greatest sorcerer in Jujutsu Kaisen. We believed that because of his combination of Limitless and the Six Eyes, he was impervious to touch.

In the highly anticipated Shinjuku Showdown Arc, Gojo and Sukuna faced off. Although it was the finest fight in the series thus far, Gojo's unexpected and horrific death at the hands of Sukuna and Mahoraga marked the end of a terrible chapter.

Gojo's life decisions and death were both contentious. It split the fanbase in two, with one faction saying Sukuna's death was warranted and the other feeling Sukuna's victory was the result of dishonesty. That didn't, however, stop supporters from wishing for his return.

There are so many theories about Gojo’s return

Many ideas have been proposed regarding Gojo's reappearance since his passing. Fans eagerly awaited the release of new chapters. It was said that every small detail held a clue to his return. The fanbase is still abuzz with these speculations months later.

The most widely accepted idea holds that Shoko, the only practitioner of jujutsu known to be capable of healing another person using the Reverse Cursed Technique, would heal him. She was Suguru Geto's buddy and Gojo's classmate as well.

She could cure Gojo till he was raised from the dead since she was his friend, and it would be her greatest achievement. When it was discovered that Ui Ui had used his cursed method to transfer Gojo's corpse to... the hypothesis gained greater traction.

Why Gojo’s return is impossible in Jujutsu Kaisen

The brutal manner in which Gojo passed away—his body ripped in two, his brain wounded and bleeding—means that a miracle would be required to bring him back. For this reason, the reason Gojo is not returning. He was bleeding inside, weary, and hurt. Reverse Cursed Technique wouldn't be able to aid with it.

Not that Sukuna had an easy time of it. The King of Curses suffered horrific injuries as well, and he would have perished if Mahoraga hadn't intervened.
-------------- --------------------

Aside from this, Gojo's comeback wouldn't be consistent with JJK. Unlike its peers, such as Black Clover and My Hero Academia, Jujutsu Kaisen does not hesitate to murder off its characters. It is, in fact, one of the series' distinguishing characteristics.

With the exception of Gojo, no character who has perished in Jujutsu Kaisen has returned. Toji murdered him, but he used the Reverse Cursed Technique to discover his full strength and resurrected in a matter of seconds. However, that was only made feasible by Gojo realizing his full potential. This time, he passed away at his peak, incapable of becoming much stronger.

Geto doesn't count either because Kenjaku exploited his corpse for his own purposes and he never returned. Since Nobara's death was intentionally left unclear, the only character who may make a comeback is her, albeit there's no certainty.

But this time, Gojo won't experience it since Jujutsu Kaisen doesn't act that way. Moreover, Gojo is detested by novelist Gege Akutami, who has expressed this sentiment on several occasions. Even though Gege created Gojo in the first place, to be honest, he doesn't treat him well. Gojo wasn't going to die in such a hideous way, but Gege wasn't going to make him come back either.

The main reason, though, is that a comeback for Gojo would be poorly narrated. Gojo's passing was final and essential; he had to pass away in order to provide the next generation with their chance to flourish. -------------- --------------------

In a shonen manga, strong characters like Gojo who have the ability to completely alter the course of the narrative are fascinating, but they also impede the plot's advancement. There wouldn't be a need for the protagonist if someone else had the ability and chance to overcome the primary opponent.

Throughout the whole series, Gojo was the only one who could match Sukuna's level of skill. But Yuji, the protagonist, has to fight Sukuna, the last enemy in a shonen manga. Therefore, Gojo's passing was required so that Yuji could take center stage.

Yuji is now realizing his full potential and revealing his actual strength after all this time. Yuji is now the sole jujutsu sorcerer standing against Sukuna, having already vanquished numerous of them. Gojo's reappearance would nothing more than impede Yuji's character evolution at such a significant juncture.

And for good reason, Gojo isn't returning for that reason. Particularly in Shonen manga and anime, certain characters have the greatest effect even after making brief appearances. The same applies to Gojo. Fans of Jujutsu Kaisen will always cherish him even after he passed away. Fans will never forget Satoru Gojo, even if they wind up forgetting Megumi or Yuji.
