Who is Dogpool? Deadpool 3’s dog sidekick’s comic origins explained

Dogpool, Deadpool's best friend, is getting ready for Deadpool 3 to mark his MCU debut. This is how he began working for Marvel Comics.

While Deadpool & Wolverine embraces the concept of variants, Deadpool variations have always existed in comic books. Numerous noteworthy Deadpool incarnations exist, such as Gwenpool, which is a Gwen Stacy transformed into Deadpool, Lady Deadpool, which is just what it sounds like, and Headpool, which is a zombie Deadpool with its head severed. But Dogpool is arguably the cutest of all these variations.

Dogpool comic book origins explained

Prelude to Deadpool Corps #3, released in 2010, features Dogpool's premiere. The miniseries chronicled the recruitment of several Deadpool variations into a multiverse superteam.

Wilson the dog is used in experiments as a test subject for the Mascara-X project on Earth-103173. The procedure fails, but now with patchy fur and a tail that seems to be withering forever, the disfigured Wilson is unable to commit himself or find a place where he fits in.

At some point, he decides to join a circus, where he is welcomed as Deadpool, a stunt dog. Nevertheless, upon discovering that he has lived, Mascara-X dispatches a brand-new creation—a genuine, genetically enhanced Wolverine—to put an end to him.

Dogpool is able to deceive Wolverine into slipping into an acid vat, preventing the first from almost destroying the circus. Mascara-X is spared from additional harm before he can exact more revenge when the 616 Deadpool pulls him out of the cosmos and brings him into the Deadpool Corps.

Who is Dogpool in Deadpool 3?

One of the several Deadpool variations that may be seen in Deadpool & Wolverine is Dogpool. According to early leaks, Headpool, Kidpool, and Babypool will accompany him. Peggy, an East Yorkshire pug-Chinese crested who won the title of Britain's Ugliest Dog in the past, will portray Dogpool.

Early Deadpool & Wolverine promotional images released by Ryan Reynolds feature Dogpool. He is shown in one picture with Reynolds wearing Wade Wilson makeup. A more current one shows Dogpool having fun in a field.

The Merc With a Mouth encounters Deadpool incarnations, Cassandra Nova, and Wolverine throughout his journey through several universes to prevent the world from collapsing in Deapdool & Wolverine.
